Tim and the Turmoil

About

Tim and the Turmoil was formed in 2024 by band veterans from Austin, inspired by the straight-ahead rock and roll of the 1980s and 1990s - crunchy guitars, propulsive bass, heavy drums.  When "alternative" didn't mean wimpy.  When rock music rocked.

With our debut album (Makeshift Memorials) in the can, we're ready for bigger, bolder, louder things.  We hope you'll join us on the journey.

Our Lineup:

  • Tim Wilkins (The Leisure Class, Louder Shrine) - lead vocals, guitar

  • Brian Ellison (Steers, The Great Curve) - drums

  • Jason Krohmer (Red McFunk) - bass, vocals

  • Jeff Garrard (Lucky Velour, Mudbone Hustler) - lead guitar

Makeshift Memorials, our first album, was released on all streaming platforms in June of 2024.   The album was produced and recorded by Matt Parmenter at Austin's Ice Cream Factory Studio.  Check it out!

Great rehearsal today.  Ran through about 20 songs with multiple passes through the three new originals.  Here's a little peek inside the Rock Garage.  Suboptimal camera angle and all . . .

First blog entry here.  The Turmoil is pretty excited to have our August 9th gig at 602 Brewing under our belt.  We spent several weeks bulking up our set with new originals and new covers to fill the full two-hour block and it went great.  Since the gig, we've been back in the rock garage keeping our progress going:  we've learned three new original songs - Slipper and Ghosts, from Tim's back catalog, and Gettin' Through, a new one that Jeff and Tim wrote together over the summer.  Next rehearsal is coming up this Saturday - - maybe we'll capture some of that practice and share it right here!
